Vmeet is now celebrating 6 year's anniversary for multi-point Video conference

Softfoundry is very honored to announce the world's first multi-point PTP video conference since the first public release, has now entering the seventh year of usage by the public. The latest version now include compatible H.264 main profile codec to support our original multi-codec design (H.264, H.263, Mpeg4 and SFDV), multi-channel full HD conference with up to 16 channels in PtP mode, and 10000 channels for MCU mode, to be in the same conference with Polycom, Tandberg, Sony, Lifesize and other hardware, as long as they all using the H.323 or SIP protocols. We have made lots of progress since the first released 6 years ago, where we only support VGA format since the limitation of  internet bandwidth and also the limited computer CPU power 6 years ago. Our design and platform at 6 years ago was the most flexible to include so many channels of  PTP connected  and to support the various codec with various sizes of video into one conference so this platform was correct and it can handle carrier class of  conferences without upper limits on how many people can log into the servers. We have supported the CCTV in China, and KDDI of Japan in early days using this platform.

In our latest release, we have included a single remote control to control any sites in the same conference as long as this site using Softfoundry's PTZ 1080P HD cam. It is quite an advanced design where the video and data can share and distributed onto single screen or upward into 8 1080P large screens in either the PtP or MCU modes.  We have also included the use of multi-channels video stream from each site using from QCIF up to 1080P to send out (while receiving multi-channels of various sizes as was before) when the targeted site could not support the large video size due to the bandwidth or CPU limitations. This is different from some new codec such as the H.264 AVC since most hardware based system could not support this type of codec whereas Softfoundry's platform could support this mode of various size send and receive videos without any problem.

Meanwhile, since Softfoundry's SFDV codec is so efficient, the use of netbooks and 3G mobile has become popular with successful applications where multiple sites in HD could be received by these netbooks in video conference anytime, anyplace.

Three governments have now started to use Vmeet for their everyday important meetings where tough security is the first priority in their selection to use Softfoundry products. Meanwhile, through relentless R&D efforts, Softfoundry is now concentrating in developments for customized and application centric systems for education, finance, healthcare, social networking and SMB.

We are looking forward for our next anniversary with more accelerated developement ranging from various hardware and very complete customized systems for all industries and governments. We hope all of our partners and customers can share our joy for having such an advanced platform 6 years ago that can weather all the  rapid changes in network and computing devices.
